ProMag Glock 43 Magazine (9mm) Review
Pistol magazines are pretty important.
Without them, we’d be back in the dark ages of revolvers and single-shot options only.
It is no secret that the firearms industry is jam-packed with thousands of products. This can make the choosing process seem a little overwhelming, but the advantage to this vast array of options is that accessories can help you configure and perfect your shooting rig.
Perhaps you're shopping for a new pistol magazine.
Decisions, decisions…
An excellent way to begin is by reading reviews of a product and comparing/contrasting it to similar brands to make a reasonably confident decision before purchasing.
A magazine might not seem like the most critical component of a handgun. However, without a quality magazine, the gun may be more prone to jamming or even malfunctioning. This is why it pays to take the time to vet the little things–even your handgun magazines.
ProMag x Glock 43 Magazine 9mm Review
ProMag Industries, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of handgun magazines, makes a six-round version specifically for Glock 43 9mm pistols.
Retailing at sub $20.00 at Ammo Planet, the six round black polymer model is manufactured and assembled right here in the USA.
The infamous Glock 43 9mm is an ultra-compact concealed-carry pistol built to hold six rounds.
Well known for manufacturing some of the top-selling guns on the market, Glock has established itself as a producer of highly-regarded firearms.
Glock spared no effort in designing its current single-stack 9mm Luger caliber pistol model. A multitude of reviewers even labeled it as "legendary", "accurate", and "a fantastic tool for any shooter, regardless of one's hand size.” This alone points to the Glock 43 being a solid choice for a handgun. Moreover, it deserves to be outfitted with accessories of a parallel quality.
ProMag took extra pains in designing this perfect-fit Glock 43 magazine.
With that being said, let's dive in and highlight the specs, pros, and cons of ProMag's GLK 43 9mm 6RD Black pistol magazine.
ProMag Glock 43 Magazine Tech, Specs, & Design:
ProMag specializes in engineering a variety of gun magazines. Some noteworthy characteristics of their products are:
- Easy loading
- Rugged high-carbon heat-treated steel body
- Durable heat-treated chrome silicon wire
- High-quality injection molded polymers for bases and followers
- Manufactured and assembled in the USA
With end-product goals of providing consistency, durability, and reliability, ProMag engineered this magazine using DuPont™ Zytel® based polymer and precision-wound magazine springs for strength.
The ProMag Glock 43 mag possesses a traditional 9mm magazine shape with a small frame. It includes six distinct cut-out holes to indicate the number of bullets that have been loaded. The corresponding bullet number is imprinted next to each cut-out hole for easy viewing. The heel of the magazine protrudes out a couple of millimeters for a more seamless attachment experience.
Some people choose upgrades for the purpose of adding “pizzazz” elements to their firearm. For those who prefer things uniform and/or conspicuous, the ProMag Glock 43 magazine comes in a deep black color that matches the factory Glock 43 magazine.
The exterior includes a sleek matte finish, making the surface of the magazine feel smooth to the touch, while still giving the impression it’s ready to get as rugged as you are. If you were to chuck it on the ground or let it fumble around in the backseat, it's unlikely the mag would show any battle scars. ProMag's outermost layer protects the inner mechanism that feeds ammunition to your firearm due to its high-quality polymer construction.
Aesthetics aside, the magazine body also has a full-length steel insert, stamped and welded like a factory magazine.
Whether you need a magazine replacement, or want to have spares at the ready for shooting your Glock 43, ProMag’s modern technology and affordability make it a product worthy of consideration.
Pros & Cons:
Although this ProMag Glock 43 magazine isn’t the fanciest pistol magazine out there, what you get for less than $30 is a durable, lasting, and guilt-free product.
ProMag magazines are ideal for concealed or everyday carry (EDC), giving you some extra ammo in defensive situations. If you’re at the range and don’t want to waste time reloading magazines the whole time, fill up a couple of these and keep them in arm’s reach while you’re shooting.
The Pros:
- Polymer follower provides smooth, reliable feeding
- Affordable price allows you to purchase more than one magazine
- Classic, smooth, and lightweight design
- Compact dimensions allow it to fit in virtually any pocket or holster
- Made in the USA!
The Cons:
- The six-round capacity may leave you wanting to shoot more bullets
- Some testimonials have reported stiff springs in new ProMag magazines
- Its minimalistic look may likely get mixed up amongst your other pistol mags
- The steel linings on the inside of the mag extend upwards near the top entrance, making it sometimes difficult to load ammo
